1.5.1. Replacement of spark plugs

GENERAL INFORMATION

The correct functioning of spark plugs – one of the most important conditions of effective operation of the engine. It is necessary, that on the engine spark plugs only the ordered type were established. At the serviceable engine cleaning of spark plugs – rare operation.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. On DOHC engines with system of injection of KE-JETRONIC remove a forward cover, unscrew screws and uncover, closing spark plugs (see fig. Removal of a forward cover on the DOHC engine with system of injection of KE-JETRONIC, Unscrewing of screws of fastening of the cover closing spark plugs, Removal of the cover closing spark plugs).
2. On DOHC engines with a control system of the HFM engine remove ignition coils from the top cover of a head of the block of cylinders.
3. Remove high-voltage wires from spark plugs, having pulled for a candle tip (see fig. Removal of a high-voltage wire from spark plugs on the 6-cylinder DOHC engine, Removal of a high-voltage wire from a spark plug on the 4-cylinder engine).
4. Clear candles, using a brush, the vacuum cleaner or a stream of the compressed air to exclude dirt hit in engine cylinders, after a vyvinchivaniye of spark plugs.
5. Using a candle key, unscrew spark plugs (see spark plug Vyvinchivaniye's fig. from the 6-cylinder DOHC engine, Vyvinchivaniye spark plugs from the 4-cylinder engine, spark plug Extraction from the 4-cylinder engine).
6. Visual control of a working part of spark plugs can show an engine condition. If the nasal part of an insulator of spark plugs pure and white, without a raid, it testifies to too poor mix. It also specifies that the candle too hot, that is heat from the central electrode is taken away slowly. If it so, is necessary to adjust structure of a mix or to replace a candle.
7. If the nasal part of an insulator of a candle is covered with a black raid, it means that a mix too rich. If the raid black and oily, it testifies to wear of the engine and need of its check and repair. If the nasal part of an insulator is covered with a light brown raid, the structure of a mix is optimum and the engine is in a good condition.
8. The interelectrode gap of a spark plug is of great importance, as at too big or too small gap the size of a spark that leads to decrease in overall performance of the engine changes. The gap should correspond to technical requirements always.
9. Check of a gap is carried out by a wire template or shchupy. Correction of a gap is carried out подгибани I eat a lateral electrode. 11. Before spark plug installation in the engine, check, that the carving was pure and all threads of a carving whole.
12. For candle screwing up on some rounds it is possible to use a piece of a rubber hose in which on the one hand to insert an insulator of a candle and, rotating a hose to screw up a candle on some rounds. Then it is necessary to remove a hose and to screw up a candle the demanded moment (see fig. Spark plug screwing up in the engine).
13. Connect to spark plugs high-voltage wires and establish all earlier removed elements.
