1.5.8. Check of turns of idling and quality of a fuel mix

1.5.8.1. Carburetor models

GENERAL INFORMATION

Adjustment is necessary for making on the hot engine. Thus all electric consumers should be switched off and the fan of a radiator should not work.

Idling turns


Prevention

On models turns of idling cope with PIERBURG carburetors the block of electronics and cannot be adjusted manually.

2–adjusting screw of adjustment of fast turns of idling;
3–butterfly valve lever;
4–screw of adjustment of turns of idling

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Connect to the engine a tachometer and check idling turns. Adjustment is made by turn of the screw of turns of idling (see fig. Arrangement of adjusting screws of the STROMBERG carburetor).
2. Quickly increase turns of the engine and then repeatedly measure idling turns.

For contents adjustment WITH weaken a lock-nut (1) and rotate the fuel gate-type valve (2).

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Insert into an exhaust pipe the analyzer of exhaust gases.
2. Increase engine turns to 2 000 rpm for 15 seconds, then transfer the engine to a mode of turns of idling.
3. Check the contents WITH in exhaust gases. For adjustment remove a cap from the fuel gate-type valve, weaken a lock-nut and, rotating the fuel gate-type valve, establish the demanded contents WITH (see fig. Contents adjustment WITH).

The raised turns of idling

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Start the engine in an idling mode. Check that turns of idling and the contents WITH are correctly adjusted.
2. Manually open a butterfly valve that the engine worked at turns of 2 500 rpm. At the same time insert a small screw-driver into a groove from the casing of a butterfly valve available after removal of a plastic covering and move the engine lever to the engine before emergence of considerable resistance.
3. When fixing the lever of the engine by a screw-driver release a butterfly valve. Thus the engine should work at the raised turns of idling.
4. Using a tachometer, check the raised turns of idling. For adjustment rotate the screw of turns of idling. The screw of the raised turns of idling the shortest of two screws (see fig. Arrangement of adjusting screws of the STROMBERG carburetor).
5. In end open quickly a butterfly valve to disunite the mechanism of increase of turns of idling and to allow the engine to work at normal turns of idling.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Establish the analyzer of exhaust gas in an exhaust pipe.
2. Establish the raised turns of idling. Check the contents WITH in exhaust gases. For adjustment remove a cap from the auxiliary air adjusting screw and, rotating the screw, establish the demanded contents WITH (see fig. Arrangement of a cap of the auxiliary air adjusting screw).
3. In end quickly open a butterfly valve to uncouple the mechanism of the raised turns of idling and to allow the engine to work at normal turns of idling.
