20.7. Removal and installation of an automatic transmission

20.7.1. Removal

GENERAL INFORMATION

Prevention

Removal of a box is complicated by that access to bolts of fastening of a transmission to the engine is limited.

Hydrotransformer removal with use of additional handles

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Open a cowl and establish it in vertical situation. Establish on a partition of a motor compartment a thin steel sheet to protect a thermal insulation of a partition and pipelines of brake system at removal of an automatic transmission.
2. Remove a weight wire from the accumulator.
3. On models with an additional heater at removal of a transmission be careful not to damage a hose of system of the cooling, located in a back part of a motor compartment. Unscrew a tube for щупа measurements of level of oil in an automatic transmission from a head of the block of cylinders.
4. Disconnect a cable of management of pressure of an automatic transmission from draft of a butterfly valve.
5. Tighten the hand brake, then lift a forward part of the car and fix on supports. The height of lifting of the car should be a sufficient transmission for lowering and its extraction from under the car. Remove the bottom mudguard of the engine.
6. At existence, unscrew bolts of fastening of the cross-piece located in front of the pallet of an automatic transmission from the bottom of the car. At installation of a cross-piece it is necessary to use new bolts.
7. Establish the suitable container under a stopper plum of transmission liquid, then unscrew a stopper and merge liquid from an automatic transmission.
8. Establish the container under a window in the lower part of a case of a transmission. For a bolt of fastening of a pulley turn a cranked shaft until the stopper liquid plum from the hydrotransformer will not appear in a window (see fig. The drain stopper of the hydrotransformer seen through a window in a case of a transmission).
9. Unscrew a drain stopper and merge liquid from the hydrotransformer.
10. Remove a plastic cap from a coupling case for access to bolts of fastening of the hydrotransformer to a drive plate (see fig. An arrangement of bolts of fastening of the hydrotransformer to a drive plate).
11. Unscrew six bolts of fastening of the hydrotransformer to a drive plate, consistently turning a cranked shaft for access to the following pair of bolts.
12. Insert small wooden whetstone between the oil pallet and a cross-piece under the car bottom.
13. Remove an exhaust system.
14. At existence, remove the thermofilter of an exhaust system from the car bottom for access to the central bearing of the driveshaft (see fig. Removal of the thermofilter from the car bottom, Unscrewing of an arm of fastening of an exhaust system from the car bottom).
15. Unscrew arms of fastening of an exhaust system to the car bottom, located under the driveshaft. Unscrew bolts and remove an arm of fastening of an exhaust system to a transmission. At existence, disconnect electric wires from an arm on a transmission.
16. Disconnect the driveshaft from a target flange of an automatic transmission.
17. Weaken a nut of fastening of the central bearing of the driveshaft, then weaken, but do not unscrew completely a nut of fastening of the case of the central bearing and move the driveshaft back against the stop (see fig. Arrangement of a tightening nut of the central bearing of the driveshaft).
18. A jack through wooden whetstone support an automatic transmission.
19. Unscrew a back support of the power unit from a transmission and the bottom of the car and remove a support (see fig. Arrangement of a back support of the power unit).
20. Disconnect electric wires from the traction relay in the right back part of an automatic transmission (see fig. A detachment of electric wires from the traction relay).
21. Unscrew a bolt of fastening and take a cable of a drive of a speedometer from a case of an automatic transmission (see fig. Unscrewing of a bolt of fastening of a cable of a drive of a speedometer, Extraction of a cable of a drive of a speedometer from a transmission case). At existence, take a cable of a drive of a speedometer from clamps on a transmission.
22. Release fixing bracket and, using two screw-drivers and being careful, remove the electric socket from the switch of blocking of a starter and backing lamps (see fig. Arrangement of the electric socket of the switch of blocking of a starter and backing lamps).
23. Unscrew a special nut with a nakatka and disconnect a wire on the left side of a transmission case (see fig. Wire removal on the left side of a transmission case).
24. Disconnect from a transmission all remained electric sockets. Take electric conducting from brackets of fastening or arms on a transmission case.
25. Disconnect vacuum tubes from the vacuum chamber on the left side of a transmission (see fig. An arrangement of the vacuum chamber on the left side of an automatic transmission). Disconnect the remained vacuum tubes from a transmission case. Take tubes from brackets of fastening or arms on a transmission case. On some models for removal of vacuum tubes from a transmission previously it is necessary to disconnect them from an inlet collector in a motor compartment.
26. Remove brackets of fastening and remove draft of gear shifting from the lever of a choice of transfers on a transmission and from the lower part of the lever of the selector.
27. Unscrew connecting bolts and disconnect from a transmission submitting and returnable tubes of the heat exchanger of transmission liquid (see fig. Arrangement of a connecting bolt of fastening of a tube of the heat exchanger of transmission liquid). Remove sealing rings and jams close the ends of tubes and an opening in a transmission for prevention of hit of dirt.
28. Unscrew from a transmission from the engine arms of fastening of pipes of the heat exchanger of transmission liquid and move pipes aside.
29. Release fixing bracket and remove щуп for measurement of level of transmission liquid.
30. Unscrew a bolt, fixing a pipe for щупа measurements of level of transmission liquid to a transmission case. At existence, unscrew a bolt of fastening of a transmission to the engine, fixing a pipe for щупа measurements of level of transmission of this liquid. Remove a pipe for щупа measurements of level of transmission liquid from a transmission (see fig. Pipe removal for щупа measurements of level of transmission liquid to a transmission, Unscrewing of bolts of fastening of a transmission to the engine).
31. Remove a starter.
32. Check that the transmission reliably is kept by a jack, then lower it so that the engine rested against a bar inserted between the oil pallet and a cross-piece. When lowering a transmission be careful not to damage brake tubes or other elements located on a partition of a motor compartment.
33. Unscrew bolts of fastening of a transmission to the engine, leaving from each party of a transmission on one bolt. Access to the top bolts of fastening of a transmission is very limited. For access to these bolts it is necessary to use face wrenches with extension pieces and kardanny connectors. On some models the top bolt of fastening of a transmission to the engine is inaccessible from below. Access to the top bolt is possible on the right side of a motor compartment after performance of the following actions:

– unscrew the thermofilters located about the amplifier of a steering for access to nuts of fastening of a final collector;
– unscrew nuts and remove from a head of the block of cylinders back section of a final collector. Remove laying.

34. Note an arrangement of the tire of grounding and the arms, fastening bolts of fastening of a transmission to the engine.
35. After unscrewing of the top bolts of fastening of a transmission to the engine lift a transmission in a starting position.
36. On models with 4-and 5-cylinder diesel engines at removal of a transmission it is necessary to fix the hydrotransformer, otherwise it can fall. For this purpose through a window in a case of a transmission insert a steel core into an opening for oil plum from the hydrotransformer.
37. Unscrew the remained bolts of fastening of a transmission to the engine, then move a transmission from the engine and, using a jack, lower and take from under the car a transmission. At removal of a transmission be careful not to allow hydrotransformer falling.
38. Removal of the hydrotransformer make as follows (see fig. Hydrotransformer removal with use of additional handles):
– establish a transmission on wooden whetstones in vertical situation by the hydrotransformer up;
– using a face key of 8 mm, turn a plastic clamp a formator hydrotrance on a turn quarter counter-clockwise and remove a clamp. On models with 4-and 5-cylinder diesel engines take a core from an opening for oil plum from the hydrotransformer;
– for hydrotransformer extraction, using long bolts and openings for fastening of a plate of a drive, screw two additional handles. Being careful, evenly take the hydrotransformer from a transmission case;
– arrange the hydrotransformer in a safe place.
